June 2001

2001 SHOW WEEKEND

. . . . Many thanks to all of you who worked at the show! Wehad a wonderful weekend. I hope I remembered to thank each of you personally because it is your help and presence that made the show the success it was. Your work is truly appreciated.

BOARD MEETING

. . . . The board met at the home of Eloise Wolfson on Monday, June 4th. Treasurer Carman Greco gave a financial report for the show, and most bills are paid. There is still some trophy money that has not been collected, but major expenses have been paid. The contract with Moss-Bow for next year's show was signed. Show dates next year will be May 18 and 19. We are hoping the new park will be ready for use in 2002.

. . . . There was discussion of plans for the fall puppy match, which will be chaired by Donna Simpson and Sarah Werner Callahan. Donna had contacted the Fairboard Secretary, Edna Kettler, and we were shocked at the quoted price of $350, one hundred dollars more than we paid last year. In addition, we were going to be charged the same amount for set-up day. When Donna objected to the fee for set-up, Edna said they would let it go this year. Luann suggested that we might be able to get the skating rink at Wheeling Park, and she is pursuing arrangements there. The Match will be scheduled for Sunday, September 30th, but the site has not been finalized.

. . . . It was decided that it is time to make a change in the items offered as trophies for the 2002 show. We had a brief discussion of possibly giving items needed for travel, such as personsl care kits, fanny packs, garment bags, under the seat bags and a nice weekender on wheels for BIS. These are only suggestions, and the Board is open to ideas you might provide. I think we must do our best to keep trophy costs limited to prices that are affordable for the donors, and make trophy calls well before the major holiday season. You will still be able to donate breed-related items that you purchase yourself provided that you get them to the trophy chairperson in advance of the show.

THERE WILL BE NO REGULAR MONTHLY MEETINGS IN JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST.

. . . . There will be newsletters, and the web page is always full of information.

KENNEL CLUB WEB SITE

. . . . Our web page is outstanding. If you have access to a computer, be sure to pull up www.scokc.org and click on all of the options. Now we are ready to expand the Information on the site, but it will be done ONLY AT YOUR REQUEST AND WITH YOUR PERMISSION. Part of the site is labeled "Members". Only officers and board members are listed at this time. We would like to add a membership list, which can also function as a breeder's directory.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE LISTED ON THE WEB PAGE, SEND ME THE INFORMATION YOU WANT INCLUDED.

. . . . Only the information you send will be used. You may include your name, mailing address, E-mail address, phone number, kennel name and your breed of dogs. Please write, print or type exactly what you want to be included. I will give your information to Frank for inclusion, and your note will be kept on file. At a later date, we will be able to include pictures with your listing, so reserve a photo you might wish to include LATER.

PUPPY STORK

. . . . Cheryl Howells had two visits from the puppy stork in May, and there are two litters of Boxer babies, with a total number of thirteen. The litter of eight puppies is five weeks old, fat and playful. The litter of five puppies is just two weeks old. Congratulations to Mamas Munchkin and Stormy!
. . . . Valerie Brown has a litter of TWO black Great Dane puppy bitches. The puppies were sired by Sharcon's Man O War owned by Maureen Clark. Mama is Nightwind's Lady Abigail. The puppies were whelped on May 23rd and are doing very well! Woofs and wags for Abby!

DOGGY DOINS

. . . . LuAnn Kennedy's beautiful German Shepherd, Brendan, has been a very busy and successful boy. He earned his Companion Dog title in May. At the Columbus All Breed Training Club Trial April 28 and 29, Brendan scored 191 and 180. At the German Shepherd Club of North Ohio on May 4 and 5, Brendan scored 190 for a third place and the following day, earned an extra leg with a score of 192 for a second place.
. . . . On May 5th, Brendan achieved his Temperament Certificated after successfully completing the American Temperament Test. What an outstanding set of achievements!

. . . . Valerie Brown was thrilled to show her lovely young Great Dane bitch to Lorraine Boutwell and win her very first point at our Saturday show! It really is special to show and win with something you bred. Congratulations!

. . . . Marge and Carman Greco's Jake, Syrr Run's Untouchable, won his first point at Agathon K. C. Show under Judge Sandy Esporite today! Jake went on to BOW. What a thrill! Kudos to the Grecos and Jake!
