HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

TUESDAY, JANUARY 10, 2006
IS OUR SCHEDULED MEETING NIGHT,
7 p.m. at the BONANZA at the Ohio Valley Mall

.........Due to the party atmosphere and Nicki’s fractured leg, I really goofed at the last meeting. We should have had a report from the nominating committee concerning election of officers. I just plain forgot! We will still have our elections at the January meeting, but we will have the announcement of candidates AND hear nominations from the floor before voting.

.........We have received AKC approval for our May shows. The Premium list is due at MB-F on January 11th. If you are planning to donate a trophy or trophies, call Jessie Coleman at 304-455-2741 NO LATER THAN SATURDAY, JANUARY 7TH.
Remember, you cannot designate your offering as a “breed item.” You must be specific and name the item. We didn’t make that rule. It was imposed upon us!

WOOFS AND WAGS

.........Bill and Joan Sams are the proud owners of CHAMPION White Eagle’s Little Boy Boo. Boo, a Samoyed, finished a few days shy of his second birthday at the Cleveland Shows. Bill is still scratching his head and wondering about the variations in judging. On Thursday, Boo was 6th out of 6 in the Open class. On Friday, Boo was BOB out of 17 for a five point major. Saturday saw Boo taking his class, but not the points. On Sunday Boo was BOB in a class of 14 for a four point major. What a wonderful experience for a first timer as an exhibitor! Big Congrats!

.........Bertie Prettyman’s Brussels Griffon, CHAMPION Parisfield Call Down Thunder (Elijah)was BOB the two days he was entered at the Bay Colony Cluster in Boston, MA.
At Western Reserve Kennel Club, 7 month old puppy Moonlight’s the Critic (Simon) won a 3 point major! Great beginning!

WHIMPERS

.........Friday, December 30th was the end of a wonderful era for JESSIE COLEMAN. Her last Newfoundland, a beautiful Landseer named Ursa, was sent to Rainbow Bridge. She was almost eleven years old and was declining from old age, so Jessie knew Ursa’s life time was growing shorter. On that fateful Friday, Jessie couldn’t get Ursa on her feet at all, and a very large Angel in the form of Bill Sams rushed to the rescue. He managed to get the giant dog in his vehicle, and along with Jessie headed for Town and Country Animal Hospital. I can’t even begin to describe the gentle caring kindness and attention that was given to Jessie, Bill, Ursa and me by the young Dr. Moore. While it was a very sad occasion, it was pleasantly memorable. Before Ursa was taken out of the hospital, Dr. Moore came in with a plaster mould and took an imprint of Ursa’s paw and gave it to Jessie.. What a nice memorial!

CLASSES—HANDLILNG AND OBEDIENCE

.........Classes will resume at Kathy ward’s training center beginning on Monday, January 9th. Advanced Obedience training classes are scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. All breed handling classes follow from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Beginning Obedience classes are slated beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 10th from 6 to 7 p.m.

NEW SEMINAR WITH HUTCH!: MAXIMIZING CANINE SURVIVAL

.........March 11, 2006 at Oak Shadows Kennel in Dover. This all day seminar encompasses whelping, dystocia, c-section, post whelping problems in bitches and carafading puppy syndrome. The cost is $95 and includes lunch.

THE BRED BOX

.........The puppy stork hasn’t been very gracious these last few years with the St. Clair Collies, but we are trying one more time. St. Clair’s All Through the Night (Kate the Great) has been bred to St. Clair Clan Piper. We should be able to have a pregnancy test in a week. If there are puppies in our future, they should arrive very close to Valentine Day. Just imagine, a whole litter of outrageous Pipers! Won’t that be fun?

THANK YOU
SEE YOU NEXT MONTH
