SEPTEMBER MEETING
TUESDAY THE 12TH AT 7 P.M.
ST. CLAIRSVILLE MEMORIAL PARK

. . . .Our program features BELMONT COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF STEVE CURFMAN with one of the department’s K-9 Czechoslovakian Shepherds whose name is MAX. Steve is a six year veteran in the Sheriff’s department. In order to be a certified as a K-9 handler, Steve was required to undergo three hundred hours of training. Max is a multi-qualified K-9, trained for narcotics, tracking, body search and human take-down. This program should be an adventure!
. . . .We moved the meeting to the park in order for Steve and Max to have plenty of space to demonstrate their skills. Keep in mind that it does get pretty chilly in the park as evening falls, so be sure you are prepared with a sweater, sweat shirt or jacket!
. . . .DIRECTIONS: Entering St. C. from the Mall Road, turn left to Route 40 W. The first side street to the right is the road to the park. Just follow the signs from there.
. . . .Entering St. C. from any other direction, drive east on Rt. 40 (Main Street) to the Barton Rd. intersection. Turn LEFT onto Barton and then almost immediately RIGHT on WALNUT. Follow Walnut to the park entrance.
. . . .Once inside the park, follow the road to the first right turn. You will see the tennis courts on the left. Turn onto the large parking lot next to the tennis courts. We will meet in the large shelter situated in the woods.

Please invite others to attend. This meeting is open to the public.

RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP DAY
MEET THE BREEDS
(view photos)

. . . .If you weren’t there, you missed a really good experience. Our Public Ed coordinator, BERTIE PRETTYMAN, had this well planned. We even had red tee shirts from the AKC (at our own expense), and it was easy for visitors to identify members. The members present were Marge Greco with her boxer pup, Dex; Cheryl Howells with her young Boxer, Trader; Donna Simpson with her Japanese Chin, Pippin; Eloise Wolfson with her Collie, Piper; Sarah Callahan with her Shih Tzu, General; Vickie Ventura with three miniature Poodles, Peaches, Gemini and Shadow?; Vickie Turner with her Rottweiler, Vail; Bonnie Milslagle with Shih Tzu, Charlie Chan; and Bertie Prettyman with two Brussels Griffons, Druid and Gavin.
. . . .Sarah Callahan and Bonnie Milslagle made two terrific informational display boards that were very attractive. We had a lot of AKC handouts that were appropriate for the occasion, plus AKC coloring books, pencils and balloons.
. . . .This was such a positive experience that we are considering doing it again early in May as a means of publicizing our show. If you missed this one, perhaps you will consider being involved in the next one.
